You know when you sincerely put everything into trying to help other people and they don't listen to, appreciate, or respect you? It's like that most of the day and then repeatedly every day following that. My son said, "Mom, you expect too much," today and he's right. I do.
I used to think it was an admirable trait to have but decades of being disappointed have finally convinced me that I should stop caring so much. That way I can fit in with the rest of the human race and maybe even have more time to enjoy life.
