My hip is killing me as the stiffness is now settling in but I'm still alive! My first 5K in about 36 minutes, (still waiting on the official time). A little off the average time of 30 minutes, (for those who are still in their twenties, can wear spandex head to toe and run constantly) but overall, not completely horrible. Hey, at least a beat the 80 year old. That guy and my Ipod mega power mix were indispensable in keeping my ass moving.
I'm just glad I can say that I finally did it. That and I helped people with Arthritis, like my friend, in some small way. Over a hundred pounds ago, I didn't think I would ever get there. See, it can be done Medi patients, you just have to make the commitment. Though, next year I'm getting that high five from Santa and those fit runners will be eating my dust.
Champs was offering a free beer after the race, but 9 am just doesn't seem like the right time for that. The celebratory drink will be later. Until then, I'll just settle for a suitable victory song.
