The Wizarding World

Now back in the real world from my long pilgrimage to Hogsworth Castle, and I have to say, it was indeed, magical. Yes, you feel as if you might die maneuvering through the stampede of thousands upon thousands of "Muggles" squeezed into the narrow cobblestone streets and the hype about the Butterbeer is bollocks, (The Three Broomsticks restaurant brews a better beer), but overall I would say the new attraction at Universal Studios is worth it. (Just plan on making a mad dash past the other islands of adventure as soon as the gates open or right before they close when claustrophobic catastrophes are at a lull.)

While, I can't personally speak for the Dragon Challenge, (I can't seem to talk myself into falling 200 feet in the air and repeatedly flipping upside down at top speed), the other two rides were just the right blast of adrenaline for me. I conquered my fear of heights on The Hippogriff, a baby coaster where, when it comes to a stop, the costumed staff applauds and cheers, "Welllllll done!" in full on British accents. And learned to accept the joys of being almost upside many times on The Forbidden Journey -a high tech ride hidden behind the castle walls, that is like no other simulated adventure I've ever experienced.

The only problem is that now I have a strange desire to watch all of the Potter movies and buy an overpriced scarf just like Harry's, just in case the temperature drops to 65 degrees here. That's not too dorky for a 36 year old, is it? Well done Universal, well done!
