An Otter Thing

Otter as in O Elem. Otters. What does it mean when an class of 1st graders can remember my name when they are just learning to read but a group of high schoolers can't? Hmmmm. Nevertheless, quite an eventful day.

Number of shoelaces tied - 6 1/2
Number of coats zipped - 2
Number of bathroom requests - 15
Number of loose teeth - 1
Number of runny noses - too many
Number of accidents - 1 (Right after she had just gone to the bathroom, too.)
Number of headaches - 1
Amount of information learned - not much (unfortunately)

Fun Fridays just aren't very productive or very fun. I'm going to have to work on maintaining better control over masses of kids, if that's even possible. At one point it was as if a pack of wild wolves had surrounded me as I stood in the middle holding raw meat a.k.a. M&Ms. Like they're not going to eat all of these "markers" before reaching four in a row for Bingo?! And I so had them at story time. Courtney even wanted to hold my hand and was practically glued to me during the 1980's Winnie the Pooh stranger danger movie. (It's pretty safe to say that she would probably fall for the "Can you help me find my puppy?" act.) And don't even get me started on how receptive the staff and other teachers are to substitutes. One on one tutoring was so much easier. I want that job.
