On the second day of Christmas the liquor store gave to me - Vodka for two apple martinis. While nothing can top a new baby to the family this is delightful in it's own way too. My sister in law introduced me to this over Thanksgiving and it's very much like Christmas in a glass, especially if you use the whipped Vodka. Stores like Target even sell special holiday mix kits if you're feeling extra festive and creative or you can find plenty of variations on this recipe online according to the ingredients you prefer.
Just be careful, as a little splash will do you. My sister in law is lightweight, so drinking half a bottle of this in the span of a couple of hours had her bringing the club to her front room. So much so that when Justin Timberlake's song, "Sexy Back" came up on her ipod shuffle, this mild mannered Sargent's wife was dancing on a chair and giving a lap dance to her gay brother in law in front of her mother in law and three children under the age of 11. Then she and my son pressured me into doing a solo karaoke number for family. Ironically, the song was "Hit With Your Best Shot" and I really should have taken that advice and had a few, as one apple martini was not enough to drown out inhibitions to pay any kind of homage to Pat Bentar. Luckily for me, embarrassment is highly entertaining.
