Me and My Shadow

Damn those catalogs! As if parents don't have enough to contend with, what with the homework, and extracurricular activities. I just want to make it to the finish line of the Thanksgiving cooking marathon first. Now we have the added pressure of trying to fulfill childhood dreams before the traffic and crowds overtake the shopping meccas.

Evan is already compiling some eclectic toys on his list which are strangely related to some of the things I've been involved in lately. For instance, one of the presents he wants is Mindflex. This is a futuristic looking headband that allows you to move objects with brainwave activity. It's not quite like the BCI speller I use in the research lab or like the "force" Luke Skywalker channels to levitate R2D2, but it's a start. In addition, he would also like an easy bake oven so he and his friend can make snacks for themselves during their video game marathons which also mirrors the mini cupcakes I'm baked in cooking club. (A microwave is much more effective than a 10 watt light bulb but I don't want to crush the illusion for him). I swear, looking at him is like witnessing the replication of my DNA into the little boy version of myself.
