A Better Fit

As fate would have it, a single opening serendipitously appeared for the Art club and I couldn't get the hell out of cooking club fast enough. My quick response may have unintentionally offended the other moms but I know my grandmother would have been proud. There's a certain kind of art to cooking too but I hate being being around noisy kids who don't listen to adults. Peace and quiet is so much nicer.

This new group was better behaved too, as they each had their own project to work on; no teamwork necessary. The regular Art teacher wasn't there so they just drew and colored pictures for the November bulletin board. The hand turkey was a popular idea but what do you expect from a bunch of kids who live in the land of palm trees? It's too bad they can't experience jumping into a real leaf pile but then again, jumping into the waves of the Gulf of Mexico and being a stones throw away from The Magic Kingdom isn't that rough. I wanted to fill them in on proportion, perspective, and shading but they're only 9 years old.

Next week they're making stress balls because it's hard out there for a fourth grader. Now, the ice cream man only comes around every other day and their time to hang out with their friends has been reduced to a couple of hours a day since school started. This club, like baby bear's bed in Goldilocks and the Three Bears, is just right.
