I know, American Idol is slightly ridiculous with Randy's dawg comments, Paula's table dancing, and the tacky sets and costumes, but like Paula's new song, "I'm There For the Music." Besides, it's the big season finale and I need my hope to be restored after that disappointing outcome from Dancing With the Stars. So here are some of the more memorable moments for those of you who missed it...
10. Steve Martin playing backup banjo for Megan and Matt. Who knew he had a band and wrote quirky, little ditties?
9. Allison and Cyndi Lauper singing "Time After Time." A classic, underrated song that brought back my junior high dance memories when I prayed that Jaime Eaton would ask me to dance.
8. Kiss accompanying Adam. You would have thought Adam would have gone for the full on face painting but I guess even Gene Simmons has boundaries. What is with him incessantly sticking out his tongue? We get it already and now at his age it's just disturbing.
7. Kara showing up bikini girl and proving that older women do everything better. Amen, sister!
6. Rod Stewart and his "shaky" montage of hits. I know tipsy when I see it and I think someone tied a few on prior to hitting the stage, which he literally almost did.
5. My boy Danny's return. I know he was singing just for me, too bad Lionel Ritchie had to interupt.
4. David Cook's touching tribute song for his brother in which the proceeds from itunes go towards a charity for brain cancer. He never lacks integrity.
3. Rock legend Queen rocking it out with the whole gang. There is nothing like blasting "We Are the Champions" and "We Will Rock You" back to back to get you through the pain of the highest setting on an elliptical machine.
2. Keith Urban singing "Kiss a Girl" with what's his name. I failed to notice anyone but Keith. Damn, if only I were that girl.
1. Kris won?! He can thank Danny for the extra votes. There's something to be said for simplicity and authenticity. He always stayed true to who he was and reminds us never count the underdog out.
AI returns back in Jan. and although I knock it, I know I will looking forward to watching it again.
